CSB #6: Save the Earth, Inflate Your Tires!

Earth Day is coming up, and it's a great opportunity to help reduce the impact of global warming on the environment. Earth Day was created in dedication to appreciate the environment around us. In 1970, the first Earth Day was led by Senator Gaylord Nelson from Wisconsin. Soon, this new "holiday" had spread to over a hundred countries in the world. On this day, people around the world try doing something beneficial to the Earth, which they will hopefully continue doing throughout the year, not just that day. Earth Day has become so famous that even an organization (the Earth Day Network) was formed. Some things that people often do during Earth Day are plant trees and recycle. Surprisingly, another great way to do this is something as simple as inflating your tires! The EPA has discovered that an under-inflated tire can lower car mileage by 3.3%, which wastes $0.11 per gallon. If everybody checked their tire pressure once per month, they would be able to save tons of money on gasoline. Although a flat tire is simple to spot, a low-pressure tire is almost impossible to discover. By keeping your tires inflated, it can save money and help protect the environment against the effects of global warming. This can end up as a great, new method to save money.
